Shopping in Los Angeles for chic women's clothing

I have often told actresses that they have to develop a sense of personal style, and that to prepare for stardom they must acquaint themselves with clothing that is chic, and wear their brand every day.

Virtually none of them get it.  Frankly, I think it's because few of them have lived in Manhattan, and they don't keep up on fashion.

Here's my initial advice: subscribe to British Vogue.  It's expensive, but you need it.

Lots of girls hang out and audition in sweats or yoga tops and pants.  I'll tell you who can get away with that, and I've seen it with my own eyes: Jennifer Love Hewitt.  If you saw her with no underwear and clingy yoga garb, your brain would melt.

For everyone else in LA, I have a list of boutiques where true fashion can be found.  The sad thing is that when I've bought gifts for clients from these shops, they actually won't wear them.  If it's not trash, it's too weird and scary .

Wanna be a star?  Be great at your craft and learn to dress:

Flu vaccine is from England--but we can't buy medicine from Canada?

Have you noticed the connection between the flu vaccine shortage and the campaign issue of importing medicine from Canada?

I had a good laugh when I heard on the news that the flu vaccine shortage was the result of contamination at a drug manufacturing plant in England! Our flu vaccine is made in England, at least in part. And it gets contaminated!

Meanwhile, you can buy brand name American medicine and generics manufactured in Toronto from sites like CanadaPharmacy.com at half price, and CanadaPharmacy lets you pay $35 for lifetime free shipping.

George Bush wants to shut down the importation of drugs from Canada. God knows who made them! Not Americans! Do you think drugs are expensive enough? One month's worth of Nexium, the "little purple pill", costs over $500 retail. Meanwhile, my GI doctor says you can replace a 40mg tablet of Nexium daily with two 20mg tablets of Prilosec OTC, and two tablets of 10mg Pepcid. That will cost you about $25 off the drugstore shelves.

Bush's connection to the drug companies is a major scandal, one I hope Kerry skewers him with tonight.

Other "domestic" brand medicines we take in the US are made in Europe, and distributed in the US by American drug companies. No one will ever tell you that--I had to dig for hours to uncover some of the drugs sold this way.

If this isn't a reason to dump the Republicans, I don't know what is.
